Dr. Jayde Sayers , DClinPsy (UK)
Clinical Psychologist
I see myself as a warm, approachable, and empathetic Clinical Psychologist who views individuals as just that - individual. I am passionate about creating a space where children, young people, and adults can comfortably share elements of their lives that they are finding to be challenging and wish to make positive changes; empowering them to improve how they may be feeling, thinking, behaving, or relating.
I enjoy working flexibly with clients, using a range of modalities and approaches. This can be as simple as a conversation or including more creative methods such as drawing, play and movement. Humans are diverse and unique, and it’s important to use a range of models to fit an individual’s needs. In my practice, these approaches and models include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Schema Therapy, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and Cognitive Analytic Therapy. I also specialize in working with young people with harmful sexual behaviors, adopting models such as The Good Lives Model and AIM 3.
Born and educated in the UK, my first psychology degree was achieved at Liverpool John Moore’s University. Following this, I worked with young people and adults with special educational needs and disabilities within SEMH schools and the community. Prior to commencing my doctoral training in 2016, I worked on a research project for the NHS, where I developed a training program for healthcare staff to support individuals with mental health difficulties.
Upon qualification, I followed my passion for working with young people by joining the Clinical Psychology Team at Werrington Young Offenders Institute, where I primarily supported young people who had attachment difficulties and had experienced trauma. I also have extensive experience working with adults, including my most recent role at Adoption UK, a charity which supports parents and their adopted children. There, I focused specifically on attachment and developmental trauma. I have also worked privately on an individual basis, covering a wide range of mental health difficulties, most notably, anxiety and depression.
